Moving Into a Condo: What to Check

Condo moves have a layer HDB moves don't: your MCST's rules on lift booking, permitted hours, and moving permits. Sort these before you book a crew, not on moving day.

Before You Book

  • Service lift booking. Most condos require this in advance, and slots fill up fast around weekends and month-end.
  • Permitted moving hours. Many restrict moving after 6-9pm; check before assuming a midnight move is an option.
  • Moving permit or deposit. Some MCSTs require a refundable deposit or a permit application submitted days ahead.
  • Floor and lift protection. Some buildings require this to be arranged (and sometimes paid for) before movers arrive.
  • Loading bay access. Check if there's a marked bay, and how far the carry is from there to the lift.

On Moving Day

  • Confirm your booked lift slot with the management office that morning
  • Have your permit or deposit receipt on hand in case security asks
  • Tell your crew about any protection requirements before they start carrying

What This Affects

Loading bay distance and lift booking windows affect how long a move takes and how much manpower is worth booking. See the full rate table for how access factors into cost, or house moving for the wider HDB and condo moving scope.
