BTO and HDB Moving Guide

Moving into a BTO flat isn't quite like a regular home move. Most homeowners are moving in for the first time, often while renovation is still running.

What Makes BTO Moving Different

• Renovation work often still ongoing
• Limited space for staging items mid-renovation
• Furniture and appliance deliveries need coordinating around trades on site
• Multiple timelines running at once

Because of this, BTO moves often happen in stages rather than a single moving day.

Planning in Stages

1. Move-in essentials first. Mattresses, basic furniture and daily necessities, so the flat is livable.
2. Schedule larger deliveries later. Once renovation is done, move in bulkier furniture and appliances.
3. Use temporary storage if your timeline isn't fixed. See storage to keep belongings safe until the flat is ready.

Packing for a Staged Move

Sort into daily essentials, fragile items, bulky furniture, and anything to store or dispose of before the move. Label boxes clearly since they'll likely be unpacked over several sessions, not all at once.

Managing a New, Smaller Space

• Move items in batches instead of all at once
• Plan furniture placement before delivery day
